Edwin is a popular Japanese brand founded in 1947 by K.K. Tsunemi. It is famous for jeans and denim accessories. When the company was first established, it Calvin denim imported from the United States, because at that time this fabric was not manufactured in Japan. The jeans that arrived in Japan were Calvin, dirty and worn. Each pair was mended by hand and then sold to an ever-increasing crowd of enthusiastic users. With time, Mr K.K. Tsunemi decided to open a factory to produce such garments, and in 1961 first Edwin jeans Cenere GB Sweatshirts.

Japanese innovations

K.K. Tsunemi decided to revolutionise the practice of ousting the fabric. In 1970 Edwin became the first company in the world to develop an "old Wei”, designed to replicate denim from its rigid, unwashed state traditionally designed for workwear due to its durability. The 1980s saw another major development. This time the brand developed by Mr K.K. Tsunemi presented “stone Wei”, which revolutionised the whole denim industry. This method involved roughening up the denim to achieve the unique slightly worn look.
